How to securely collect payment in Ordermentum

This guide explains how to use the Request Payment feature in Ordermentum, which allows suppliers to request payment details from their customers automatically.

Introduction

The Request Payment feature in Ordermentum enables suppliers to get paid automatically by requesting that their customers add a payment method. This guide will walk you through the steps of using this feature, from sending the request to the customer's payment submission.


Using the Request Payment Feature

Sending a Payment Request

If your customer does not have a payment method set up, a banner will appear at the top of the page. You can initiate a payment request by clicking on "Send Request" or "Add Card Details."

In the panel that opens, you have two options:

  • Request that the customer adds their payment details.

  • Enter the customer’s payment information manually.

If the customer's contact details are missing, you can enter their name and contact information to ensure the payment request is sent to the correct person.

If you choose to enter the payment details manually, follow the prompts to input the necessary information. This is useful if the customer has provided their payment details directly to you.


Customer Experience

Receiving the Payment Request

After you send the payment request, the customer will receive an email or SMS prompting them to add their payment details.

Entering Payment Details

The link in the message will take the customer to a secure form where they can enter their payment information. Once completed, the payment details will be ready for use in processing invoice payments.

Optional Account Creation

The user who received the link will also have the option to sign in or create an account if they are a new user. This step is optional and does not affect the payment process.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

My customers have both Credit Card and Direct Debit options available. Does this form allow them to enter both?

Yes, when customers click the link, they can choose their preferred payment method.

Does the link expire?

Yes, the link will expire immediately after it is used or after 7 days if no one clicks on it.

Does the link have to go to an existing Ordermentum user?

No, the link can be sent to any email address or phone number. The recipient will have the option to sign up or sign in after they add their payment details.
