Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Ordermentum bill me (the supplier) when surcharging is enabled?
A: Even though the surcharge is shown as a separate line item to your customer (the venue), it is still part of the total transaction amount. Ordermentum’s payment processing fees are calculated on the final transaction total, which includes both:
• The product/order total
• The surcharge amount
Because the surcharge is intended as a cost recovery, the aim is that you (the supplier) recoup the associated payment fees. However, it’s important to note that the processing fee applies to the entire amount (including the surcharge).
Example:
• If the order total is $1,000 and you add a 2% surcharge ($20), the final transaction amount is $1,020.
• Ordermentum’s processing fee is calculated on $1,020, not just the original $1,000.
• The surcharge you collected ($20) is meant to offset your additional processing cost.
