Creating Products in Ordermentum

Learn how to create and manage products in Ordermentum. This guide covers manual product creation, pricing, visibility, images, advanced options, and bulk imports.

Overview

Creating products in Ordermentum ensures your customers see accurate pricing, descriptions, and availability when placing orders.

In this article, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create products manually

  • Set pricing and GST

  • Control product visibility

  • Add cost of goods and images

  • Use advanced product options

  • Import products in bulk using CSV


Before you begin

Before creating products, make sure:

  • You have access to the Supplier Dashboard

  • Your product details (name, pricing, GST status) are ready

  • You know which categories and visibility groups apply


Adding Products Manually

Use this method if you want full control over each product’s setup.

Step 1: Add a product

  1. Go to the Products page in the Supplier Dashboard.

  2. Select Add Product in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Enter Product Details

Add the core information customers will see.

  • Product Name

  • Description

  • Categories (choose the most relevant ones)

Product status options:

  • Enabled

    • When ON, the product is visible and available for purchase.

  • In stock

    • When OFF, the product is visible but can’t be ordered.

Step 3: Set Pricing

  1. Enter the base price (excluding GST).

  2. Select Apply GST if GST applies to this product.

Example:

  • Base price: $10.00

  • Apply GST → Display price becomes $11.00

This price is what customers see and pay.

Step 4: Manage Visibility

Use Visibility Groups to control which customers can see or order the product.

  • Select one or more Visibility Groups

  • Customers outside these groups won’t see the product


Step 5: Add Cost of Goods

If you know your production cost, add it here.

This enables Gross Profit reporting by:

  • Customer

  • Product

Reports are generated on a scheduled basis.

Step 6: Upload Product Images

Strong images = higher conversion. No pressure, but yes pressure 📸

To upload an image:

  1. Hover over the image placeholder (top-right of the product page).

  2. Upload a new image or select an existing one.

Image guidelines:

  • Recommended size: 350px × 350px

  • Adjust the image to fit the red crop box

  • Select Crop and Save

Saved images can be reused across multiple products.

Advanced Product Options

Advanced settings let you customise how and when products can be ordered.

You can:

  • Restrict ordering days or times

  • Apply order quantity rules

  • Control product availability windows

Using Custom Product Properties

Custom properties help with:

  • Production reporting

  • Filtering products

  • Passing extra data to integrations

You can create properties like:

  • Size

  • Batch type

  • Region

  • Internal reference codes

Importing Products by Bulk Import

If you manage a large catalogue, bulk import saves serious time.

Using a CSV file, you can:

  • Create new products

  • Update existing products

Troubleshooting

My product isn’t visible to customers

  • Check Enabled is ON

  • Confirm the product is In stock

  • Review assigned Visibility Groups

The price looks wrong

  • Ensure the base price excludes GST

  • Check whether Apply GST is enabled

Images aren’t displaying correctly

  • Confirm the image meets the size recommendation

  • Re-crop and save the image


Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I save a product as a draft?

Yes. Turn Enabled OFF to save the product without making it visible.

Can I reuse images across products?

Yes. Uploaded images are saved and can be reused anytime.

Do customers see cost of goods?

No. Cost of goods is internal and only used for reporting.

Can I edit products after creating them?

Absolutely. All product details can be updated at any time.
